Hi friends,
I just love this rattan thing
I just love this rattan thing
Seems like my weeks go so fast that I forget it is time to talk to you all again. I'm not sure where the weeks go! Steve has been sick for almost a week and I have had a bad headache and slight stomach ache all week, so not sure what is going on with us! The weather is getting hotter and it's getting really, really humid and sticky, I think this gives me a headache a lot of the time, so I know that is what is the matter with me! Bouki is getting hotter too....he loves getting into the water to cool off, but then he goes bezerk in the water, turning circles, digging in the bottom of the plastic tub and runs around like a maniac when he's done....so we aren't sure this is a great idea! The house help let him do that while we were gone the other day and when he came inside soaking wet...he made a beeline for the bed, jumped up on it and rolled all over the place, they said he was having a great time....of course, he totally soaked the bed! So Benit had to change the sheets! Crazy dog!

Bouki is getting so big. Last Friday we measured him for his 3 mo. measure in. He was 18" long and 16" high....when we got him at 2 months he was 14" long and 12" high. We think over the last 3 days he has grown even more. He is getting tall enough his head is starting to be able to look over things and when he jumps up he can reach different chairs etc.....it is really funny. Bouki loves water, any kind of water; puddles, his drinking water (to dig in), shower water, water we have in buckets for kitchen use, any and all water no matter where it is! When he goes outside with Dis...and Benit is washing clothes they have to use one of the plastic tubs for him to play in or he won't leave Benit alone. He is getting so big that he is outgrowing all of the plastic tubs that we have. So today, at the marketplace I bought a new tub for Bouki. I put it in the house until tomorrow...and he has been in and out of it all day, digging in it and turning circles and it doesn't even have water in it yet! Can't wait to get water in it tomorrow and watch him have fun. I'll put a picture in next week of his adventures. Everyone is getting used to him. The only time we have any trouble at all is when he gets all wound up from playing so hard and he can't stop. He is only 3 months old and just can't figure out how to stop playing, biting and having a wonderful time. When he does quit though, he crashes really hard!!!!! He is so cute and so much fun!
Youth concert
Youth concert
Last Sunday, the Youth at our church in Marfranc had a concert. They sang about 6 songs, and there was a comedian and also a comedian/singer. They made some money for their treasury and had a great time. Over 200 people and tons of kids crammed into the Church for the concert. It was raining, so it started late and lasted over 2 hours. We are enjoying the youth and watching them grow up. Several of them now help with the kids on Sunday and they have 2 kids singing groups going. Some of them will help with the Bible school this summer and 3 of them are starting in the church membership classes. We are very excited about this group of young people!
The retaining wall is almost done
The retaining wall is almost done
My kitchen depot is done! Well, it still needs doors and windows, but it is basically done! The guys are finishing up the wall this week, or tomorrow actually and then they will have a small break before starting on the clinic room at the Catholic church. They are doing a beautiful finish job on the wall...an extra treat for me so that it looks nice. Some of the guys had a little bit of time and leveled out the ground and put some extra gravel on it, so that when it rains it won't be muddy! Now we just need some grass, flowers and fenced gates at both ends and Bouki will have a yard. He loves to be outside, but wanders around too much and there isn't always someone to watch him....or he always wants to go out when I'm in the middle of something. So, when the back gets fenced/gates....he can go out the back door whenever he wants and stay out as long as he wants...yeah!!!!! Anyway, I'm excited about the depot, I'll finally have space to put some of my things and be able to find them easily! What a huge blessing.
Bouki
Bouki's new tub
We are getting ready for our next team to come and visit. It will be a team of 7 people, Pastor Fran and another guy, plus 5 women! The main focus of this trip is to get pictures and applications for the new Child Sponsorship program that we want to get up and running in the fall at the Marfranc church school. They will be taking pictures of 80 children who will be ready for adoption for school scholarships! We are very excited about this and I'll tell you more as we go along. Anyway, they will arrive next Wednesday and be here for a week. Fran and John will be doing some jobs around the house here....which will make me very happy!
Also, the beans are starting to come in.....we have been drying them on our roof! I don't think we have quite half of them collected, but it is going pretty well...we'll see how many we get back! But, it's looking pretty good.
Okay friends, enough for one night! We pray you are having a great week! Hope that you are starting to get some summer weather...and that you are able to go outside and work in your yards and think about some camping trips this summer! We are getting hot and humid, but that is how it is supposed to be here in the tropics!
I send you much love and prayers for a wonderful week!
