Julie is an 18-month old girl who lives with her family in Jeremie. Julie was born with a hole in the roof of her mouth. In the United States, a child with this condition would likely undergo surgery right away to correct the problem, but Julie's mother is still trying to save enough money to afford it. Without the surgery, Julie faces malnutrition and speech problems, which will make her an outcast as she grows older.
